Project one: Attics

For this project I am wanting to work with attic design, simply because I like the roof angles. I think different angles in a room make the room a lot more interesting, and they will make the deign I create a lot more unique because it is rarely you will come across two attic rooms of the same size and with the same angles, also I see it as a challenge for myself which with make the out come a bigger achievement in the end.

Artist research: Emily Henson.

Emily Henson is the main interior designer I will be looking at for this project. I first discovered her when I bought a book on modern rustic when I first developed an interest in the style, not taking in the fact that the book was actually about Emily Henson and all the interiors in the book were her work, and once I figured this out I fell in love with her work even more, it has everything I admire in interiors, modern furniture mixed with natural materials, and her colour schemes particularly in her rustic work.

Interior design plans.

As the project I am currently doing is an interior design project I am having to do a lot of perspective drawings. I had had little experience in this kind of drawing so I had to teach myself, I did this simple by looking up images of other peoples and figuring out from them how it works, although I already knew the basics of finding the centre point and converting measurement. I don't feel that the sketches I am producing at the moment are up to a good enough standard where I can be happy with them, so this is something I need to continue working on.

Scandinativian.

Scandinavian interior design is very interesting to me and I feel that it has a big influence on designs I create and the colour schemes I use, although I would not class my designs as Scandinavian as I tend to incorporate a lot more of a rustic feel into them, and although there can be quite a rustic feel to Scandinavian some times I feel its more about the modern, clean cut finish, rather then the some what messy and rough feel of rustic.

Exhibition research: Civic in Barnsley

I went to view the 'knitwear' exhibition at the Civic in Barnsley. And these are a selection of photograph's I took of different pieces I saw there which I liked.

'decade by decade, this incredible collection charts over 100 years of knitwear history. it is the first exhibition of it's knid to explore not only the key designers but also technical innovations in hand, machine and industrial knitting. knitwear in fashion is often taken for granted, but this exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate knitwear center stage and inspire future design directions.'

Project: Here and Now: Artist Research: Lesley Richmond

Lesley Richmond was born in cornwall in the south of england, and she recieved her art teachers training in London, England and her MEd in America.

''Lesley Photographs trees, focusing on the intricacy of their branching structures and then prints these images on cloth, using a medium that creates a dimensional surface. She then eliminates selected background areas, leaving the structural images of trees as the dominant feature. The images are then painted with metal patinas and pigments.''

(Website: www.lesleyrichmond.com)

Lesley Richmond's work relates to my projects because of her use of textiles, which was the main outcome of my project as I produced a cushion cover.

Tips: Pinterest.

When I first started studying art I found it really difficult to find out all the information I needed for my projects, until I started using Pinterest. Pinterest is really easy to use and amazing for finding new artists to look at, I just search 'artist' or 'textile artist' and most posts have the artist name in the description and a link to the website the post was sourced from.

Really easy and really usefull.

Artist Research: Andreas Lie

I cant find much out about Andreas Lie for now, but if I do I'm going to make sure I record it somewhere.

Website: http://artbylie.tumblr.com/

I had trouble only picking a few piece to post because they're all amazing, plus most of them are of animals that I love and most include beautiful landscapes, which makes it even harder to choose just a couple, but maybe in the future I can look more into Andreas Lie.

Pieces that interest me:
